NALSAR student drowns in swimming pool
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD: A student of the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research met with a watery grave in the swimming pool of Celebrity Club in Shamirpet on city outskirts, the police said on Tuesday. Mahesh Gopan, 19, a second-year student of L.L.B., came to the club along with five of his classmates in the evening. “He claimed that he knew swimming and entered the pool along with his friends,” Shamirpet Inspector Narender Reddy said.
After a few minutes, Gopan drowned in the pool. Gopan's classmates and the ‘life savers' deployed by the club at the pool side pulled him out within two to three minutes. “But by then the student fell unconscious. The club workers tried to resuscitate him but in vain and rushed him to Shamirpet Government Hospital. As advised by the doctors, he was taken to the Mediciti hospital as his condition deteriorated but the student died on the way, the police said. Gopan appeared for an exam at the Academy on Tuesday. He hails from Kerala. His father works as legal officer with a company in Mumbai.
