‘CJ's remarks not a verdict'
Special Correspondent
BANGALORE: Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court J. S. Kehar's reported oral observations terming Karnataka as the most “corrupt State” turned out to be a tricky issue for the BJP central leadership at the time of the release of the charge sheet against the former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy.
Trying to play down the Chief Justice's observation, BJP national spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said: “Observation of the court has to be respected. However, it was not in response to a particular case or that related to suo motu action. It is only an observation and not a verdict.” But she said she did not want to undermine the importance of the observation.
