Don't rely on middlemen, Collector tells people
Special Correspondent
VILLUPURAM: Collector C.T. Manimekalai has told people not to rely on middlemen for getting benefits under various welfare schemes. Instead, they should directly approach officials of the departments concerned.
She was addressing a mass contact programme held at Pallavadi in Ulundurpet block on Wednesday. Ms. Manimekalai said the officials had delineated welfare schemes so that people could opt for the schemes suitable for them.
Responding to the request of R. Kumaraguru, MLA, the Collector said the drinking water problem in the village would be addressed. She handed over a cheque for Rs. 2.89 lakh to Sudha, a resident of Pallavadi, whose husband died at Yemen in harness. The Collector also gave away welfare assistance worth Rs. 9 lakh to 119 beneficiaries, including old age pension, sewing machines, farm implements, and house site pattas. Panchayat president Vasanthi was present.
