43 new ITIs to be set up in Punjab, says Minister

Chandigarh: The Punjab Government will set up 43 new Industrial Training Institutes, 250 skilled development centres and fill up the posts of 680 instructors in technical institutes within the next six months, State Technical Education Minister Surjeet Kumar Jyani announced on Wednesday.

“The State Government is committed to providing vocational education to the students to make them economically self-dependant,” he said in a release.

The Minister said the ITIs should change their curricula according to the changing needs of industry so that employability of ITI trainees could be enhanced. - PTI
