Fatty pay packets, good work ambiance key for job seekers

IT sector is the prime choice, says Ma Foi Randstad study

NEW DELHI: Fatty pay packets and pleasant working atmosphere seem to be main priorities for Indian job seekers, most of whom prefer IT sector for employment opportunities, says a study.

The findings are part of an online survey by leading HR solutions provider Ma Foi Randstad.

“Apart from high salary and pleasant working atmosphere, other main factors considered by (job seekers) were job security in the long run, work-life balance and financial health of firms,” Ma Foi Randstad's MD and CEO E. Balaji told reporters on Wednesday.

The survey, which covered about 10,000 respondents, also found that IT sector, including BPO (business process outsourcing) and ITeS (IT-enabled services), were the prime choice for employment, followed by energy, consulting, consumer goods and retail and travel and hospitality areas.

According to the study, the top 20 companies for employment include Infosys, TCS, Larsen & Toubro, NTPC, ONGC, Toyota and Oracle.

Mr. Balaji noted that women preferred to have their office in a good location while men were mainly looking for the financial health of companies. The survey was conducted from December 2010 to February 2011.

Ma Foi Randstad is part of the Netherlands-headquartered global HR major Randstad.

Brian Wilkinson, who is member of Randstad's executive board, said the company would be focussing more on India in the coming months.

Presently, India operations account for about 10 per cent of Randstad's overall temporary staffing volumes and 2 per cent of Randstad's annual revenues. “We are looking to expand our presence in places including Kochi, Chandigarh and Visakhapatnam,” Mr. Balaji said.

Ma Foi Randstad currently has about 60 offices nationwide and employs around 1,400 people. — PTI
