Junior National from July 5

NEW DELHI: The 62nd National junior basketball championship, featuring 26 boys and 25 girls teams, will be played at the Thyagaraj Indoor Stadium from July 5 to 12. Players born on or after January 1, 1993, will be eligible to participate.

The Basketball Federation of India (BFI) has indicated that age verification of all the players would be done a day before the competition.

The States to field both boys and girls will be, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Kerala, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Orissa, Puducherry, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.

Two other teams Mizoram and Tripura will only participate in boys event while Goa will only have a girls team. — Special Correspondent
