KOLLAM: The Sree Narayana Dharma Vedi will stage a demonstration in front of the S.N. Trust office here on June 30 to block the auctioning away of two SN trust properties. Vedi leaders R. Arun Mayyanad, D. Rajkumar, and S. Suresh Babu told media persons here on Wednesday that the SN Trust had no authority to sell its property based on the decision of an executive committee meeting. They said as per a newspaper advertisement, the properties earmarked to be auctioned were 21 cents of land at Thalassery town and eight cents of land at Ayur Junction in Kollam district. There was an incomplete building on the premises of the Thalassery property and the Ayur property had a multi-storied building in it. The two properties were purchased during the tenure of M.K. Raghavan as SN trust secretary for the purpose of constructing hospitals. Moreover, the SN Trust was not facing any financial crisis so as to warrant the sale of its property. The Vedi leaders alleged that there was an element of mischief behind the auctions. The properties were at prime locations. The fear was that these would be auctioned away for a pittance to benamis of vested interests in the trust. Earlier, the present leaders of the SN Trust had auctioned away prime properties of the trust at Koyilandi and Guruvayur in this manner, they said.
