Burning issue:ABVP members burning the effigy of Primary Education Minister V. Sailajanath in Kadapa on Wednesday.

KADAPA: Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad members set ablaze an effigy of Primary Education Minister V. Sailajanath at Seven Roads junction here on Wednesday demanding closure of unrecognised corporate schools in Kadapa district.

The District Education Officer Subba Reddy served notices on some unrecognised corporate schools, but later bowed to their pressure, ABVP State joint secretary P. Suresh alleged. The schools should be closed and admissions stopped till they secured recognition, he demanded. The government was encouraging corporate schools and ignoring government schools. Members K. Rajasekhara Reddy, M. Sai Krishna, Siva, Deepak, Sankar, Banerjee, Muralikrishna and Ramana participated.
