Boy dies of rabies
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD: A 7-year-old boy Arun from Mahabubnagar district died of rabies at Fever Hospital on Tuesday, health authorities said. The boy was bitten by a dog four months back and was brought to Fever Hospital in a critical condition and was admitted on Tuesday afternoon. Apparently, the boy did not receive the full dosage of the rabies vaccine, health authorities said.
“We lost him within a few hours. We had asked his parents about the rabies vaccine but they could not give a clear history of the vaccination. They just gave one dose of rabies vaccine, which is not enough. They did not follow-up after administering one rabies vaccine,” said Fever Hospital Superintendant, Dr. B.S. V. Manjula. The district health officials once again reiterated that persons bitten by dogs should immediately opt for vaccine doses.
