For a better deal: Cardholders throng Suramangalam Police Station demanding distribution of kerosene at Jagir Chinna Ammapalayam ration shop in Salem on Wednesday. - SALEM: Ration cardholders of Jagir Chinna Ammapalayam here laid siege to Sooramangalam Police station demanding supply of kerosene on Wednesday. BPL The cardholders, a majority of them living below poverty line, claimed that the fair price shop, which was opened recently after a series of agitations, charged that essential commodities were not supplied regularly. No supply The kerosene supply, which was important, had not been given since the opening of the fair price shop in their region. They further said that they had represented their grievances to the authorities concerned many times. Petitions were also submitted to them in this regard. “This month the shop has received just 500 litres of kerosene while the shop itself serves 150 cards. How can we will cook and live?” said a woman who also took part in the agitation. Grievance redressal They urged the district administration to redress their grievances immediately. Senior revenue and police officials of the district held talks and told them necessary action would be taken in this regard.
