Hubli-Dharwad
Keerti Nidagundi and Diwakar Hegde
DHARWAD: For the fourth consecutive year, the All India Radio, Dharwad, has won national-level All India Radio annual awards. According to a release from C.U. Bellakki, Programme Head of All India Radio, Dharwad, Keerti Nidagundi had been chosen for the national award for her entry Bhavataranga in innovative category while Diwakar Hegde had been selected for the certificate of merit for his programme on music “Megha Medini”. Bhaavataranga programme dealt with the theme of human sensitivity towards domestic animals. The feature is in the form of an autobiography of a cat and elaborates on how man in his eagerness to achieve his goal by hook or cook, has turned cruel towards his fellow beings be it animals or people. The programme kindles the light of kindness towards animal species. Megha Medini is a composition of poet Diwarkar Hegde. Medini, the earth, separated from Megha (rains) for the dry seasons yearns for his company. The changes that take place on earth's surface during winter and summer are poetically depicted. The music has been composed by Sripad Hegde and songs sung by Rekha Bhat Kotemane and Rekha Dinesh Hegde. It might be recalled that Akashvani, Dharwad, has won laurels at the national level for its quality programmes.
