PALAKKAD: Shortage of funds and manpower is reportedly hampering garbage-removal activities of the Palakkad municipality. The Kerala Municipal and Corporation Workers Congress, affiliated to the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), took out a march to the municipal office on Wednesday demanding urgent resumption of sanitation work. The march was inaugurated by union State general secretary Antony Babu. The required funds had not been provided. There was shortage of sanitation workers and machinery to handle the huge quantities of garbage piled up in different parts of the town, he said. — Staff Reporter
