Looking ahead: Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal P. V. Naik at a press conference in Bagdogra on Wednesday. KOLKATA: “The rapidly changing regional and global geo-political dynamics calls for greater vigil and preparation by the defence forces to neutralise a variety of security challenges. The Indian Air Force is alive to the changing scenario and is fast emerging as a strategic aerospace force capable of addressing our security concerns,” said Air Chief Marshal P. V. Naik, Chief of the Air Staff, at Bagdogra on Wednesday. “Some major acquisitions and upgradation programmes are already progressing and some more are in the pipeline,” he added, according to a press release issued by Wing Commander Mahesh Upasani, Chief Public Relations Officer, Ministry of Defence, Kolkata. The Air Chief, who was addressing a press conference on the occasion of the Eastern Air Command (EAC) Annual Station Commanders' Conference, said that the IAF has the full support of the Government in the implementation of various modernisation plans in Eastern Air Command's area of responsibility. Empowered Committee “The Empowered Committee under the chairmanship of the Vice-Chief of the Air Staff is continuously monitoring the upgradation of our facilities, creation of new infrastructure and induction of assets in the region,” Air Chief Marshal Naik said. In his address to the EAC Commanders, the Chief of the Air Staff pointed out that the IAF is moving forward to be totally “net-centric” which will be the future operational requirement, the release added.
