Plea to Governor

PANAJI: Goa Governor S. S. Sidhu on Wednesday assured a delegation of Goa Union of Journalists led by president Pandurang Gaonkar and General Secretary Vithaldas Hegde that he would send a ‘positive report' to the Centre over the Majithia Wage Board for Journalists and Non-Journalist of Newspapers.
When a GUJ delegation called on him at Raj Bhavan and handed over a memorandum requesting him to convey the sentiments of the journalists and others in Goa that the wage board recommendations should be notified at the earliest, Mr. Siddhu gave them a patient hearing and then going through the details of recommendation, remarked that “the demands are reasonable”, Mr. Hegde told The Hindu after meeting the Governor.
Clarification
As Mr. Siddhu was away from Goa on Tuesday, the day of the all India agitation of journalists over the delay in implementation of the wage board, the memorandum in this regard was submitted to him on Wednesday, Mr. Hedge clarified.
