KARIMNAGAR: Minister for Civil Supplies D. Sridhar Babu called upon the medical fraternity to reside at their respective places of posting and serve the rural masses during emergencies and win their confidence. The Minister conducted his Manthani assembly constituency development review meeting in the Manthani mandal headquarters on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, he instructed the medical department to equip the primary health centres (PHC) with necessary medicines during rainy season and also during the outbreak of seasonal diseases. He also directed authorities to deploy adequate anti-rabies vaccine in all PHCs. Instructing the department to fill up all vacant posts in the medical department at all PHCs, he suggested the authorities to encourage institutional deliveries for the protection of mother and child. He said that the district administration had embarked upon an ambitious task of launching the SMS alert system for pregnant mothers to encourage them to have institutional deliveries from July 11 onwards. He said that the SMS alerts would instil confidence among rural people and also ensure accountability among doctors. He said the SMS alerts would also be used for sending messages pertaining to health of the women and her entire family as well as diet and sanitation etc during the outbreak of seasonal diseases. Informing the authorities to accord priority for development of interior villages, he warned the mandal level officials of stern action if they fail to do justice to the rural people in the interior villages. Collector Smita Sabharwal, Joint Collector M.A. Azeem and others were present.
