TIRUNELVELI: A number of Puthiya Thamizhagam office-bearers led by party's former Tirunelveli city district secretary S.T.K. Kanmani Maaveeran and nine union secretaries left the party on Wednesday to join Thamizhaga Makkal Munnetra Kazhagagam, led by another Dalit leader B. John Pandian. Speaking to reporters after joining the TMMK, Mr. Kanmani, a close associate of PT president and Ottapidaram MLA K. Krishnasamy levelled a series of charges against his former leader. Along with Mr. Kanmani, Tirunelveli district joint secretary of PT Inbaraj and union secretaries of Sankarankovil, Kuruvikulam, Kadayam, Ambasamudram, Puliyangudi, Vasudevanallur, Shencottai, Nanguneri and Alangulam also left the party to join TMMK in the presence of Mr. John Pandian. “We'll show the TMMK's strength when we take out the massive rally here on July 23 to pay floral tribute to the victims of Tamirabharani tragedy with Mr. John Pandian leading the silent procession,” Mr. Maaveeran said.
