BELLARY: K. Somashekar, secretary of the district unit of Socialist Unity Centre of India (SUCI), has condemned the UPA Government and the State Government for their “anti-people” policies. Addressing activists after launching a protest here on Wednesday, he said: “Because of their anti-people policies, the public has been suffering. A nationwide public movement is necessary against the price rise.” Mr. Somashekar hit out at the Centre for raising the prices of LPG, diesel and kerosene, and also at the State Government for not reducing taxes on petro products. He accused the governments of pursuing “pro-capitalist” policies by way of announcing tax concessions and allotment of land at a low price, while not showing keen interest towards the welfare of the common man. M.N. Manjula, SUCI leader, alleged that the frequent increase in prices of petrol and diesel was only to fill the coffers of the oil companies.
