NEW DELHI: The National Human Rights Commission has issued a notice to the Delhi Chief Secretary seeking a detailed report within four weeks on the incident relating to injuries sustained by 22 persons after a high-tension wire melted and fell on a residential area in East Delhi on the night of June 22. Taking suo motu cognisance of the June 24 media report relating to the incident that occurred at Khajoori Khas, the Commission said if the contents of the media report are true then they raise serious issues of violation of human rights of the victims. It also asked the Delhi Chief Secretary to inform it of steps being taken by the Government to prevent such a mishap in future. The report alleged that a 1,000 metre-long high-tension wire passing through Khajoori Khas melted and fell on houses resulting in injuries to 22 persons, including six children. Some houses were partially burnt due to the heat.
