Planning ahead:Collector R. Selvaraj releasing the credit plan booklet in Tuticorin on Wednesday. Tuticorin: At the quarterly District Level Review Committee meeting, the bankers were advised to provide educational loans in time to benefit students. Presiding over the meeting at the Collectorate here on Wednesday, Collector R. Selvaraj, said educational loans to the tune of Rs. 182.36 crore had been extended to students across the district, so far. He also urged the bankers to achieve the target of extending micro-credit facilities to members of self-help groups by December as per schedule. Two banks are expected to set up their branches in Ottapidaram and Thalamuthunagar. During the schedule, the Lead Bank District Manager, H. Thiagarajan, appealed to the bankers to submit proposals to Reserve Bank of India for setting up banks in these two localities. The Collector released the Annual Credit Plan for 2011-12. A.H. Susindra, Manager, Reserve Bank of India, Chennai, M.R. Natarajan, District Development Manager, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development and officials from various nationalised banks attended, according to a statement.
