Staff Reporter

COIMBATORE: A wild elephant entered a residential area at Mani Thottam in Chinna Thadagam and damaged a house on Tuesday.

The elephant consumed food materials and destroyed the house of Gopalsamy. Efforts to drive the elephant away yielded no result. After one-and-a-half hours, the elephant left.

Sandalwood seized

Forest officials arrested a 42-year-old man and seized 10 kg sandalwood from his house in Perur.

Acting on a tip-off, Forest Range Officer G. Rajeswaran raided the house of Murugesan (42) at Pachapalayam and found sandalwood logs kept in the house. Further investigation is on.
