Of eight posts of RJDCE, six were lying vacant TIRUCHI: The Association of University Teachers (AUT) has urged the State government to expedite appointments to the post of Regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education (RJDCE), for smooth functioning of its offices and those of aided colleges. Out of eight posts of RJDCE, six were lying vacant, causing hassles in the functioning of the offices. The government should also address the legal hurdles obstructing the appointments of Grade-1 principals in government colleges. In a representation to the government, AUT State president K.Pandiyan called for empowerment of the Directorate of Collegiate Education to dispose off pending appeals made by individual teachers, with particular reference to the Erode Arts College. The AUT welcomed the decision of the Principal Secretary for Higher Education to refuse sanction for increased intake of seats in colleges that lacked requisite infrastructure in Madurai Kamaraj University area. The AUT's representation also requested the government to initiate steps for fill teaching and non-teaching vacancies in aided colleges. The government should view very seriously the actions of certain erring managements in refusing to fill up sanctioned posts.
