MANGALORE: It was in turns that relatives were taking care of one-year-old Zahid, the youngest of three children of 35-year-old Razia, who was murdered here on Tuesday. Zahid was seen with Razia's mother-in-law B. Fathima for some time and then with Razia's mother on Wednesday. For a few minutes, he was also with his father Hameed, a scrap merchant. The grief over loss of Razia and her eight-year-old daughter Fathima Zua continues at the house of Hameed in Panjimogaru on Kulur-Kavoor Road. Razia and Fathima Zua were stabbed to death on Tuesday. “I still believe that somebody close to our family has done this ghastly act,” said Hameed's younger cousin Ibrahim Khaleel. A large number of Hameed's friends and relatives took part in funeral on Tuesday night. According to Hameed's elder cousin Abdul Khader, the bodies of Razia and Fathima Zua were brought from hospital to the house on Tuesday night. Prayers were offered at a mosque in Panjimogaru and the bodies were buried at a place near the mosque. Meanwhile, the Mangalore police are yet to achieve a breakthrough in the investigation of the murder case. Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh has formed two teams headed by Assistant Commissioner of Police Puttamadaiah to investigate the case. On Wednesday, the police were at Hameed's house to take statements of his friends and relatives. Mr. Singh said the police were working on some clues.
