Official laxity will not be tolerated: Minister

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: Minister for Urban Development, Municipal Administration and Law and Parliamentary Affairs S. Suresh Kumar on Wednesday said the department will not tolerate laxity by officials in the implementation of projects and their performance would be audited every year.

Mr. Kumar held a meeting of officials of the Urban and Municipal Administration departments and reviewed the progress of several projects in various districts. He said the officials in several urban local bodies have not yet prepared action plans for the year 2011-12 for execution of projects and this would bring a bad name to the government.

Severe disciplinary action would be taken against officials who fail to discharge their duties properly, he warned.
