4.4 kg gold, cash seized in Nandyal

KURNOOL: The police led by Deputy SP Naganna raided a lodge at Nandyal on Tuesday night and seized a large quantity of gold and currency from two persons who identified themselves as bullion merchants.
According to the police, during the raid on lodge, two persons were found possessing 4.480 kg gold and Rs. 13 lakh in cash. The police took into custody, Krishnamohan and Venkata Satish Kumar who hail from Nellore.
Tahsildar Tirupal Yadav conducted inquest and verified the documents held by the traders. Local merchants association gave an undertaking in support of the visiting traders.
The police referred the case to the officials of Commercial Taxes and Income Tax to examine the issue of tax evasion.
