‘Abolish contract system'

BANGALORE: The Hotel Employees Federation of India on Wednesday urged the Government to abolish contract labour system in hotel industry. The federation is holding a rally in the city on July 1 demanding managements not to employ workers on contract basis and introduce service charges system.

G.R.Shivashankar, State General Secretary of the federation, told presspersons here that 75 per cent of hotel employees were on contract basis and they were denied benefits such as provident fund, leaves and health coverage.
