NALKU JANARIGE NAMASKARA MATTU ITHARA PRABHANDHAGALU: Gangadhara Mudaliar; Press Club of Bangalore, Cubbon Park, Bangalore-560001. Rs. 80.
THIS BOOK, a collection of eight humorous essays, reflects different faces of the people all viewed in a lighter vein, but most of them have an insight of biting satire with thought-provoking statements.
The title essay gives a message about how a person should lead his life.
The first essay gives a vivid picture of the big market of Mysore, the intelligence of the shopkeepers in dealing with customers besides the pathetic life of a poor hawker.
The author makes his wife the heroine in some essays and jocularly narrates in one how her inadequate knowledge in Kannada language made the author a laughing stock once in the company of his colleagues.
The experience of the author about his trip to Ooty can be anybody's experience, but the lithe style cannot be imitated by one and all. The piece on the complaint of his wife about a scabby dog is full of fun and frolic; there is rollicking wit throughout the narration.
The author, throughout making use of apt native proverbs, idioms and old sayings narrates the essays. The Press Club of Bangalore deserves congratulations for bringing out this volume.
