THIS BOOK is a compilation of stories and anecdotes collected from scriptures and religious texts of the world, which deal with morality, virtuous conduct and values based on spiritual and ethical truths.
The author shares/quotes the stories which exemplify Zen, Sufi, Hindu and Islam philosophies; so one finds great truths uttered by saints and philosophers like Sri Ramana Maharshi, Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Mulla Naseeruddin and Maulana Rumi. “To die rich is to have lived in vain,” said Jiddu Krishnamurti to emphasise that there is a story which talks about the importance of leading a philanthropic life.
The opening story talks about a woman who becomes rich overnight after finding a treasure. Still she finds that her husband is unhappy. She sees a divine vision and seeks her husband’s happiness, and learns that finding happiness is a self-quest. Many such stories abound in this.
Filled with golden rules and maxims for a good life, this book deserves to be prescribed reading for moral education.
