NAAKOO UNDHI OKA KALA: Tummala Padmini, Attaluri Narasimha Rao — Telugu Translation of “I Too Had a Dream” by Verghese Kurien, Alakananda Prachuranalu, Kanchu Kota Street, Opp, Maris Stella College, Vijayawada-520008. Rs.125.
THIS BOOK is the Telugu translation of I
Too Had a Dream, the autobiography of Verghese Kurien. It begins with the account of his life trajectory. After his education abroad, life took a sudden twist when he was posted in the small village Anand in Gujarat. How passionately he shaped a cooperative society and transformed the very concept of milk production (which rose from a mere 200 litres to millions of litres under his able guidance and vision), faced hurdles and oppositions, started and promoted the brand “Amul”, empowered the economically poor, invented the milk vending machine — this book consists of all these wonderful experiences and how his innovative, progressive thinking made him a legendary figure.
It is not just destiny and good luck that helps one to become a successful icon and a visionary. It takes dedication, discipline and futuristic thinking. He went beyond self-interest and carried the larger picture of his country and its development in his heart. Known as the “Father of the White Revolution”, he built one of the most successful, largest dairy development programs in the world, the Operation Flood. He won recognition as a crusader who turned India into the world’s largest milk producing countries. A must read book.
