IN THESE stories one can see both serious and mocking tones combined with a sense of humour and deep knowledge of what is happening around. Most of the writers have maintained a simple dignified tone with a choice of vocabulary of everyday conversation though generously sprinkled with many English words. The themes reflect the unpretentious and sincere effort on the part of the writers to explore the fountainhead of creativity, with concerns and proclivity varied and comprehensive. Though they do not reflect the problems of penury, they reflect the emotional pressures, the psychological and social demands, the reality as perceived by the pan Indian community abroad.
Not digressing from the main theme, with an easy narrative, few stories make a deep impact. This is the 10th short-story collection with 35 stories published by the Vanguri Foundation of America which is a truly laudable effort, since publishing such books encourages and nurtures the creative energy of writers and also helps the Indian diaspora in the U.S. to retain their cultural, lingual and ethnic moorings.
