THIS PUBLICATION contains the text of Badarayana and three related texts written by Rangarmanuja Muni, Mahacharya and Srinivasacharya. Rangaramanuja is known as the commentator on the Upanishads (Upanishadbhashyakara) in Visishtadvaita tradition. He is said to have written 60 works. His Sariraka Sastrartha Dipika is a brief exposition of the Brahmasutra, following Ramanuja’s Vedantadipa. The Brahmasutra comprises 545 aphorisms which are divided into 156 sections in this tradition.
The next work in the present volume is the Sribhashya Upanyasa delivered by Mahacharya who hailed from Sholinghur. He was a contemporary of Srirangaramanuja. It is a brief exposition of the important teachings of the Sribhashya of Ramanuja. The Nayasangatimalika composed by Lakshmipuram Srinivasacharya (18th century A.D.) is a brief exposition of the Sribhashya in 216 “Anustubh” verses. It brings out the main teaching of each section and points out the connection between one section and the other in a lucid style. The text of the Brahmasutra is given at the end of these other texts.
This publication has useful indexes of the aphorisms and scriptural passages quoted in the Sariraka Sutrartha Dipika. The editors T.K. Srinivasa Tatacharya and S. Padmanabhan are to be congratulated for the excellent work that has gone into the present volume. This publication helps people at various levels of scholarship to take up a detailed study of Ramanuja’s magnum opus, the Sribhashya.
