THIS BOOK is a compilation of critical essays on the complete works of Mudnakudu Chinnaswamy. Part one comprises the papers on the significant contribution made by the writer to creative literature in Kannada in which there are interesting discussions on his poetry, plays, short stories, translations and edited works besides his social activities.
Part two includes published articles in popular journals reviewing the important works of the writer followed by the articles on the multifaceted personality of the writer separately.
The fourth part consists of excerpts from the interviews conducted for telecast on different occasions. English articles contributed by famous scholars form a separate part.
Born and brought up in a downtrodden caste, the writer gives expression in his literary creations to the evils of the caste system in India.
In one of his poems he refers to privileged persons visiting a temple leaving their sandals outside the temple whereas the underprivileged are denied entry into the temple.
The authors of these articles point out to a number of such contrasts observed in society.
These articles highlight the uniqueness of this distinguished and resourceful writer.
