THE AUTHOR is a poet who has also had a career in active politics under the leadership of ‘Anna’, founder of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. But, primarily he is a poet and only secondarily a politician. He has to his credit more than 10 volumes and has received a number of awards from his admirers at home and abroad.
The book is a collection of poems on 89 themes and they include Tamil language, Tamil community and Tamil leaders. The author has strongly condemned slavish mentality and English fanaticism. Issues that are relevant in the contemporary world like terrorism — as distinguished from extremism — and the burning problems of Tamil diaspora in several foreign countries have been treated with utmost care and great concern.
The way he has handled subjects related to nature, love, linguistic patriotism, and so on deserves special mention. Elegantly written, the poems are free from linguistic and prosodic errors. On the whole, the book is a welcome addition to Tamil poetry and will be found inspiring and educative by the Tamils generally.
