Howrah-Hapa super-fast train

THE South Eastern Railway (SER) has introduced a new weekly super-fast express train between Howrah and Hapa (in Gujarat).

The train leaving Howrah every Friday at 11.05 pm will reach Hapa (station after Rajkot) on Sunday at 6.00 pm. In the return direction, the express train, named as Aradhan Express by the Union Railway Minister, Ms Mamata Banerjee, will leave Hapa at 9.25 pm every Wednesday reaching Howrah on Friday at 4.45 pm. It will touch the major cities of Gujarat such as Surat, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Viramgam and Rajkot, fulfilling a long standing demand of the sizeable Gujarati community of West Bengal and the Benga lis at Gujarat.

According to Mr R.K. Thoopal, General Manager of SER, the new service will open up direct access to a large number of tourist places of Gujarat to the people of eastern India and vice-versa.

Highlighting the improved passenger facilities at SER, primarily dubbed as a freight career for the Indian Railways, Mr Thoopal said SER ran 170 mail/express trains, 300 passenger trains and 155 suburban services. The train was flagged off from the new c omplex of Howrah station by Mr Dinesh Bhai Trivedi, Chairman of the All-India Passenger Amenities Committee.
