Maran quits `active' politics -- Not likely to resign as Minister
THE senior DMK leader and Union Minister, Mr Murasoli Maran, today announced that he was quitting active politics. Mr Maran's announcement came after he made telephone calls to news agencies citing health reasons for his decision. He is, however, not qui tting as the Minister for Commerce and Industry.

Forex reserves increase by $ 433 m
FOREX reserves have climbed by $433 million to touch an all-time high of $42.689 billion for the week ended April 6, 2001 as compared to $42.256 billion in the previous week, as per the Weekly Statistical Supplement of the RBI.
