Recycling and conservation
The fast depleting resources and increasing volume of garbage and other wastes makes it an ethical compulsion for the Government to take effective steps in recycling and resource conservation.

Animal welfare reforms
everyone else who cares about Indian cattle, is deriding their trade for feeding off the cruel transport and slaughter of animals. (`CLE urges government to adopt animal welfare reforms', August 30). They say they are just taking the ``pickings'' of the meat trade.

Technology
No time for technology?
The alternative of using alcohol in diesel engines is really interesting. But in India, who cares for upgradation of technology? Most Indian scientists are working for developed countries.
