Pref share misuse upsets DoT -- But Finance Ministry can't offend foreign investors
THE Finance Ministry has rejected the request of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to revise the preference share guidelines for foreign investors, to prevent what it terms as ``backroom management control'' of domestic telecom companies by fore ign companies.

Threat to suspend perishables shipments
EXPORTERS of perishable produce such as fresh fruits, flowers and vegetables have threatened to suspend shipments from October 17, if the airlines continue to charge higher freight, making exports uneconomical.

COFEI reverting to open outcry
THE Coffee Futures' Exchange of India (COFEI) will revert to the conventional outcry system of trading from Monday as poor volume and depressed coffee prices have made the cost of online trading system prohibitive.

Infosys `on target for achieving projected growth'
INFOSYS Technologies Chairman and CEO, Mr. N.R. Narayana Murthy, has said that the company is on target for projected growth and would end the current fiscal with a turnover of about Rs. 2,500 crores (first half year turnover Rs. 1,262.65 crore) and a pr ofit after tax (PAT) of Rs. 780 crores (Rs. 391.59 crores).
