Political tale

interesting twists On the set of Nam Nadu

A mandapam in Nungambakkam, the location for the shoot of Kanakarathna Movies’ Nam Nadu, is chock-a-block with people. Director Suresh is busy reeling off instructions, while Sarath Kumar, Nasser and Manivannan wait for the camera to roll.

Says Suresh: “It’s a different film, showing politics in a new light. The protagonist Muthazhagan (played by Sarath Kumar) starts his career as a youth-wing leader of a political party. He goes on to become a minister. His father, played by Nasser, is the Education Minister in the same cabinet. The conflicts between the two form the basis of the story.”

Actor Sarath Kumar joins in and says, “What I like about the film is the taut screenplay. The story has a number of twists and turns to sustain audience interest.” Incidentally, director Suresh has already wielded the megaphone for Sarath-starrers Arasu and Gambeeram. He has also directed Vijaykanth in Sabari. As for the title, Suresh smiles, “Yes, it’s the title of matinee idol MGR’s film. But it suits our story very well.”
