Daler sings for Rajni


What is the connection between Hindi pop star Daler Mehndi and Superstar Rajnikant’s Kuselan? Kuselan’s music composer G.V. Prakash has confirmed that Daler will be singing for the first time in Tamil. The song, said to be a groovy pop number, will have Superstar and Nayan shake their legs to it. It will be shot in the backwaters of Alleppey. The P. Vasu-directed, Kavithalaya-produced film features Rajnikant, Nayantara, Pasupathy and Meena in lead roles.

‘Arasangam’ gets U

Arasangam is Vijayakanth’s forthcoming film. Madhesh who has directed it says the film will be an out-and-out commercial entertainer. The Censor Board cleared it recently, giving it a U certificate.

“Captain dons the role of an IPS officer, who employs psychoanalytical methods to deal with the culprits. However, there is not a single scene relating to politics in it.” Then why the title? Madhesh says with a smile, “The title is justified. The film is about cleansing the political system, which enables the people to have corruption-free governance.”

Bagyaraj is back

Maanavan Ninaithal is a new Tamil movie from Adhavan Creations. S.P. Gnanamozhi takes care of the story, screenplay, dialogue and direction. Newcomers Ratheesh Kumar and Priyashree play the lead. K. Bagyaraj, Manobala, Pandu and Nalini form the supporting cast. Director Gnanamozhi says, “We wanted to get Bagyaraj’s call sheet for only four days. But, when he came to know about the role, he gave us a one-week call sheet. That shows the legend’s commitment to his job.”

V. Dashi, who got the state award from the Kerala Government for best music director of 2006, scores the music.

Chakravarthy in ‘Sarvam’

After Billa, director Vishnuvardhan is ready to kick-start his next venture Sarvam, starring Arya and Trisha in the lead. Vishnuvardhan after making hits such as Arindhum Ariyamalum, Pattiyal and Billa has penned an action-packed storyline for Arya.

Initially, Suriya was slated to play the lead but at the last moment, Arya replaced him. After thorough search, Vishnuvardhan has cast popular Telugu actor J. D. Chakravarthy as the baddie. The tall-bearded actor is reported to have accepted the offer happily.The camera work will be by Nirav Shah, while Yuvanshankar Raja will score the music.
