star-studded affair On the sets of Saroja
The Chennai 600028 team is back in action. Shooting is going on in full swing for Saroja, and when we join in the action at a mansion on East Coast Road, the crew is getting ready for glitz and glamour.
Among those present are Chetan, Latha Rao, Swarnamalaya, Santhoshi, Rajkamal, Deepa Venkat, Devadarshini, Devipriya, Venkat, George and Divya Dharsini, in short the who’s who of the small screen.
Streamers, tinsel and colour lights… what’s happening? “One of the main characters, Siva, is a television actor. He marries Kajal Agarwal and their reception is star-studded,” explains Venkat Prabhu, who is in charge of the story, screenplay, dialogue and direction.
Star act
“We have also requested some popular film stars working in television such as Radhika, Kushboo, Ranjitha, Devayani and Kousalya to make it and they have promised to before we wind up shooting in a day or two,” he adds.
“We are shooting a song in Singapore St. James Power Station, Asia’s biggest Club. We have asked Matilda, winner of the best singer in the Singapore Idol show, to sing in this film. We are shooting that song there,” Prabhu informs.
The song A
aja Meri Soniye, wafts through the air, and S.P. Charan, Siva, Premji Amaren and the others start shaking their legs. Venkat Prabhu and Sakthi Saravanan, who wields the camera, get busy.
During the break, producer T. Siva says work on Saroja, produced by Amma Creations, is nearly over. “We have only a song and a few patch work shots to be done. We have recorded five songs — two are written by Gangai Amaren and three by Vaali. And, we are going to shoot two Tamil video songs to promote the film,” says the producer.
The film’s title role is being essayed by Vega Timotia, a newcomer. The cast includes Vaibhav (son of director Kothandarami Reddy) Prakash Raj, Jairam and Nikitha.
