Kombu Thevan gets rolling

Shooting for Kombu Thevan is under way in Thanjavur. Sanjay Ram and Hari Kumar, hero of Thoothukudi, are producing the film. Sanjay had earlier produced Thoothukudi and Veeramum Eeramum, which didn’t do well. Kombu Thevan is based on our ancient Tamils known for their valour. Hari Kumar plays the hero and newcomer Padmini, the heroine. Director Manoj Kumar is introduced as an actor in the film. Director V. C. Guhanathan plays a pivotal role. Sanjay dons the role of Chandiar besides handling the story, screenplay, lyrics and dialogues. Raja Mahesh directs the film; John Peter scores the music; and Sri Ganesh takes care of the cinematography.

Focus on action

Kanthaswamy, featuring Vikram and directed by Susi Ganesan, is touted to have all the necessary ingredients to make it a complete entertainer. It is being made simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu. Stunt scenes in Chiyan’s films are generally a highlight, and especially after Bheema, the star is said to be focussing more on action sequences. A massive set had been erected in the Prasad Studios costing Rs. 1 crore wherein a fast-paced action scene was shot for 17 days. Another action sequence was shot in Theni on a three and a half acre corn field which cost around Rs. 1.26 crore.
