On a signing spree

Madhavan has been a star in the South for a long while. But what has gone unnoticed is the Rang De Basanti actor has been quietly making inroads into Hindi films. Maybe it’s the cute cellphone ads with Vidya Balan that have upped this actor’s brand value. After the recent 13B, Madhavan has a range of Hindi films coming up — Teen Patti with Amitabh, Chhashni with Jaya Bachchan, 3 Idiots with Aamir Khan, and Tanu Weds Manu. Sikander is slated for release this month. Looks like we are going to see a lot of Madhavan this year.

Kher Film Festival?

The rise of the multiplex film has benefited Anupam Kher’s career. On July 10, the Khosla Ka Ghosla-A Wednesday star will have as many as three releases. Says Anupam: “Each of the films is different — Sankat City is a caper film with Kay Kay Menon and Rimi Sen. The songs of Morning Walk (co-starring Sharmila Tagore) are very good and It’s A Mismatch is an English film co-starring Boman Irani and Nandana Sen. Having three of your releases on the same day is exciting.” The actor, who recently celebrated 25 years of his debut film, Saaransh, seems to be still chugging ahead full steam.
