Want to be a maths wizard?

MATHS WIZARD, a year-long academic programme to spot and nurture maths prodigies from among students of Classes 5-11, commences in Chennai on June 18. It is being organised by Srichakra, an organisation focussing on education and training, at R-5, A/2, Anna Nagar Western Extension.

The programme will be held after school hours and during weekends to enable the students to attend the classes without affecting their school schedule.

Maths Wizard, according to a press release, is a unique maths foundation-building and advanced programme for the students. It uses pattern recognition and reasoning techniques to solve arithmetic problems `mentally.'

Computer-aided presentations will be made as part of the programme, which will help the students' build confidence in mathematical abilities, improve concentration levels and innovate. A `Maths Wizard Talent Contest' is scheduled to be held on June 19 and 20 at schools in Anna Nagar and vicinity between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
