Training for knitwear unit staff
THE VIVEKANANDA Institute of Knitwear Technology, Tirupur, offers short-term courses for those looking out for opportunities in knitwear units and also for those employed in these companies.
With knitwear export industry in Tirupur booming, the institute's focus is on making available skilled manpower to the industry. Hence it has specially designed three-month programmes for pattern masters, sewing machinery operators and quality control technicians.
Started by the Kumaran Kalvi Kazhagam in July, already a batch of students have found placements in knitwear units. The courses concentrate on practical training on machinery, and in-plant orientation programmes are organised. The institute has also tied up with the Textiles Committee for framing of syllabus, sourcing faculty and procurement of equipment.
