HUMAN RIGHTS and Custodial Justice were the topics of discussion at a guest lecture organised by the students of the GRD School of Social Work. Writer and human rights activist from Chennai, Thiyagu spoke on the need to protect human rights.

He has spent his life as a convict for 16 years and continues to fight for human rights throughout his life.

Thiyagu is also the author of books like Suvarukkul Chithirangal and Kambikkul Velichangal. Narrating the experiences of his prison life, he said that fundamental rights should not be denied for prisoners.

He also said that prisoners should not be subjected to corporal punishment. The chief guest also stressed that every individual in society should be aware of human rights.
