The ideal school
D.K. Goel
WHAT IS an ideal school all about? Offering strong fundamentals, enabling each student to get maximum marks in the board examinations, providing synergistic guidance for competitions, having teachers with high IQ and communication development, says D.K. Goel, Chairman and Managing Director, FIITJEE, a "corporatised" institute for IIT-JEE and Engineering entrance examinations training.
Mr. Goel told EducationPlus that physical fitness also plays a vital role in the school curriculum. Sports should be made a habit. Culture and values that are essential for self-belief, respect and confidence should be made mandatory in a school. Yoga and meditation bring flexibility to the body and energise the mind. It is certainly the path of growth and helps one see himself/herself in the context of the universe.
An ideal school is one which helps a student to dissolve ego and search the significance of existence. Besides these, it also facilitates in developing good personality traits and attitude.
Tie-up
An ideal school environment is what FIITJEE has to offer, said Mr. Goel, elaborating on the Ascent and the Pinnacle programmes offered by the institution.
Here, FITJEE ties-up with one of the good schools in the city and coaches the students during the class hours. FIITJEE will be part of the school system and is aimed at creating a difference in the concept of education.
"The faculty for coaching science subjects will be from Delhi and the teachers of the school will also be guided by FIITJEE. The schools will provide the infrastructure."
Long distance programmes are also available. First to innovate the all-India test series, the institution aims at creating the real examination environment to the students.
Of the 11 tests in the series, eight are written in the centre and three at home.
Guidance on how to score maximum marks within the stipulated time is also provided.
Affordable
Besides IIT-JEE, coaching for AITEE and CET Karnataka are also available. In Delhi, the tie-up is with SMRI Public School and in Hyderabad with FIITJEE's own junior college. "In Bangalore, the process is in the nascent stage and the tie-up school will be announced shortly," said Mr. Goel. The integrated programmes are offered at a low cost, he added.
The programmes are also available at Lucknow and Ranchi. After April 2005, these programmes will be available at Agra, Allahabad, Bhilai/Raipur, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Indore, Jamshedpur, Jodhpur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Meerut, Mumbai and Varanasi.
