Total quality management
IN A globalised world `quality' is the watchword and every market is keenly judged, based on its quality output. Under such circumstances it becomes imperative to have quality products and effectively sustain them. Besides, the time is ripe to come out of the clutches of traditional methods and adopt modern techniques to manufacture quality product.
Here is where the total quality management (TQM) can come in handy. By implementing TQM integrated with Quality Circles and other concepts the industries can be fit to withstand global competition.
TQM is the philosophy by which organisations can involve people at all levels. This requires continuous training and vigilance to achieve improvement and cost reduction in all aspects. With these quality concepts the Quality Circle Forum of India, a non-profit national body for propagation of Quality Circles and their quality management concepts, has come out with programmes, which facilitated extensive training in systematic way through its 19 chapters throughout India. The quality improvement teams impact company's economics by reducing cost of poor quality and customer dissatisfaction. This approach expands the scope of participation of all associated with the company and empowers them and increases due recognition for their contribution.
Some of the in-house training programmes of QCFI are Quality Circles concept and operation, Quality Circles for grass-root employees, problem-solving techniques (old tools for Quality Circles and new seven tools for all executives), TQM Quality Improvement Teams for executives, 5S awareness programmes, 5S implementation for groups, Awareness programmes about other Quality concepts like Total Productive Maintenance etc., for middle and top management, ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 Awareness Programme, Documentation Programme, Internal Audit Training and
