A guide to students heading to U.K.
The road to United Kingdom has been laid out well in Harish Nair's `Target UK.' Touted as the `complete handbook' and a `must for UK travelers,' the book sets out to achieve the tag of a guide by interspersing general information on the country with specific guidance to job seekers.
The U.K, according to author Harish, is a `mixed bag of opportunities and challenges.' And the best way to approach this is to learn more about the country. So he starts off with a tour of United Kingdom complete with a little bit of history, landmarks, food, seasons and sources of information thrown in. The book then goes on to review the profiles of four frequent visitors to U.K. Information on how to go about finding the correct routes is also provided. From a holiday-maker's hurdles, it moves on to work permits and the `highly skilled migrant programme.' Separate chapters are there on how to handle the interview at the British High Commission and `what is a visa' for applicants. Appendices contain detailed information on `The International English Language Testing System', lists of colleges, hospitals, visa forms and registration requirements for nurses.
