CD career guide on engineering
AFTER CET what ? If B.E., which branch? You have heard of biotechnology but do not know the role of an engineer in it. You are interested in civil or chemical engineering but peer pressure and parental advise goad you towards computer science or electronics and you are naturally confused.
But help is at hand and is just a mouse click away. The Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) has come out with a CD titled "Career Guidance for the Aspirants of Engineering Education" which is also available on the VTU's website.
According to G.L. Shekar, Special Officer at the VTU's e-Learning Centre, SJCE campus, Mysore: The CD contains the insight of distinguished persons from academia and industry on five major disciplines of engineering: Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, and Information Technology.
In all, 23 branches have been covered under these heads including Biotechnology, Architecture, Automobile, Manufacturing, Medical Electronics, Biomedicine, Telecommunication and Computer Science.
The CD, sponsored by IBM and the brainchild of the VTU Vice-Chancellor, Balaveera Reddy, will help students get information about B.E. courses in colleges affiliated to VTU.
