PSG courses in textile discipline
The PSG Industrial Training Institute (ITI) will offer two-year programmes in spinning, weaving and textile mechatronics from this year.
According to the Chief Executive of PSG Institutions, C.R. Swaminathan, textile mills in this region are in need of weaving and spinning technicians who can handle modern machinery. The Southern India Mills' Association approached the State Government to introduce these courses in the ITIs and suggested Coimbatore, Salem and Madurai as centres.
The PSG ITI has decided to introduce three courses from this year - spinning, weaving and textile mechatronics which will commence next month. The association will help getting machinery for the courses and the institute will provide the land, building and faculty. A few textile machinery manufacturers here have also come forward to supply machinery for these programmes. Candidates will be sponsored by the industry so that they don't have to search for opportunities after completing the course.
