Next best is nursing course

P. Jayakar Babu.

P. Jayakar Babu, Registrar, NTR University of Health Sciences:

There are over 5 lakh jobs waiting for B.Sc Nursing candidates in the U.S. This course is sure to fetch you a job.

The Government had thrown open the nursing field to even male aspirants from this year. Of the 71 nursing colleges across the State only three were being run by the Government.

The remaining were private institutions. Besides, there were 36 physiotherapy colleges, all run by private persons.

Not everyone may get chance in the MBBS course since seats are very limited. The next best option is to go for B.Sc Nursing.

No teething problems

R.V. Subramanyam

R.V. Subramanyam, Principal, Vishnu College of Dental Sciences, Bhimavaram:

Unlike MBBS, where one does not stand to gain much unless one specialised in a specific area, BDS is an independent qualification. Moreover, a dentist is spared of a `medical emergency' situation and therefore can lead a relaxed life. The treatment is appointment-based and it is a wonderful option for women who mostly need flexible timings. Before selecting a college, the institution should be recognised by the Dental Council of India, it should have good infrastructure, a good library, hostel within the campus and most importantly, a good OPD.

Opt for biotech

K.R.S. Sambasiva Rao

K.R.S. Sambasiva Rao, Head, Biotechnology Department, Acharya Nagarjuna University:

Settlement in life is a long process in the medical stream. Hence, I would suggest students to opt for biotechnology, which is in great demand. It was a good option, which was in demand in European countries. Practical training was necessary since it was a research-based subject. If you stop at B.Tech in biotechnology, your growth would be stunted. You should therefore go for a post-graduation.

Good tidings for vets

Ravi Kumar

Ravi Kumar, Assistant Professor, NTR College of Veterinary Sciences:

An assured Government job, besides umpteen opportunities in the private sector for a veterinary graduate were reason enough to opt for this course. The State Government's decision to set up a separate veterinary university at Tirupati would generate nearly 300 to 400 jobs.

Right prescription

G. Devala Rao.

G. Devala Rao, Principal, K.V.S.R. Siddhartha College of Pharmacy, Vijayawada:

A course in pharmacy would throw open good job opportunities in the country as well as abroad. Andhra Pradesh has 55 pharmacy colleges offering 3,000 seats.

I would advise students to opt for it since it would assure a job for them.
